Canadian singer-songwriter Liz Loughrey has confirmed a show at The Hotel Café, Los Angeles this Friday (February 10).
The Toronto-based soul/pop artist will perform a 40 minute acostic set, including hit single ‘Rise Up’, in the parlour room at 7pm. She will be joined by guitarist Adrian X (The Weeknd, Drake, PartyNextDoor).
Speaking of her excitement at performing at the iconic Hotel Café, Liz said: “Playing these songs acoustically allows me to share my stories in a raw and uninhibited way. I love performing in Los Angeles and the energy I feel here always makes for a special show!”
As we just mentioned, included on Liz’s setlist is ‘Rise Up’, her empowering anthem which defines her approach to music and life. In her words, “‘Rise Up’ is more than a song, it’s a movement. The #RiseUpMovement is all about telling the stories of people who are positively impacting the world and encouraging people of all ages and walks of life to Rise Up in their communities.”
The track was written and produced in Miami by Liz, Adrian X and Supa Dups (Drake, PartyNextDoor, Mary J Blige). Since its release, it has garnered over 100,000 plays on Spotify. The video, conceived by LZL, is a compilation of clips from around the world portraying devastation and inspiration.
Alongside the song, Liz started the #RiseUpMovement, “encouraging people to focus on their strengths, on what their gifts are and what they can give back.” On days off her tour schedule, she hosts workshops for Grade 7 and 8 students talking about self-esteem. “‘Rise Up’ is the foundation, the tone of what I want to do,” she says, “it’s a reason why I sing.”
Liz’s show at The Hotel Café is one not to be missed! If you want to catch her live, tickets are available here.
