NBA veteran Nate Robinson undergoing treatment for renal kidney failure

Nate Robinson, an 11-year NBA veteran, announced he is battling renal kidney failure and undergoing treatment. In a statement tweeted by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Robinson said he’s been dealing with this privately for the last four years.

“I’m sharing this now because I want to be the voice for all those who are having trouble speaking about this illness, and come together for a greater cause — our health,” Robinson said.

“I am grateful for the care and support I’ve received and continue to receive during this process, and hope through this announcement that I can help others like me.”

Robinson, 38, went No. 21 in the 2005 NBA Draft. He began his career with the New York Knicks (2005 to 2010) before playing for the Boston Celtics (2010 to 2011), Oklahoma City Thunder (2011), Golden State Warriors (2012), Chicago Bulls (2012 to 2013), Denver Nuggets (2013 to 2015), Los Angeles Clippers (2015) and New Orleans Pelicans (2015).

Robinson is a three-time Slam Dunk Contest winner. Through 618 career games played, Robinson posted averages of 11 points, 3.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game on 42.3 percent shooting from the field.
