Kristin Stewart Admits She Seemed Like An A__hole While She Was Dating Twilight Co-Star Robert

It’s been ten years since the height of Kristen Stewart’s Twilight fame, and now that she has had time to reflect on it, the actress admits that she used to come across as “an a**hole.” Stewart was in her late teens, and she wasn’t ready to be the center of attention. She says that her unwillingness to be in the spotlight gave people the wrong impression.

Stewart – who is starring in the Charlie’s Angels reboot this fall – is on the cover of the September issue of Vanity Fair. And in the interview, she says that before Twilight she had already had roles in big-budget movies like Zathura: A Space Adventure and Into the Wild. But, the role of Bella Swan took her career to a whole new level, and she got frustrated that people didn’t like her.

“I’m in no way rebellious. I am in no way contrarian,” says Stewart.

After the Twilight saga came to an end in 2012, Stewart took roles in small budget, indie films like the Kelly Reichardt-directed Certain Women and Oliver Assayas’ Personal Shopper, so she could get away from the celebrity-obsessed culture.

“It gave me a chance to not weigh something down. It was so much bigger than me,” explained Stewart. “My baggage was so minuscule in comparison to what [Reichardt’s and Assayas’s] storylines are, as filmmakers. I was finally given a chance to be looked at, not as this thing in this celebrity-obsessed culture that was like, ‘Oh, that’s the girl from Twilight.’”

Stewart says that the stress of being so famous at such a young age caused her to have panic attacks and stomach aches. She revealed that she puked every day, and turned into a control freak.

The 29-year-old explained that because she couldn’t anticipate what was going to happen in a given situation, she would think maybe she would get sick, and then she would be sick. But now, she says she has “grown out of it.”

Stewart’s co-star and ex-boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, has also recently looked back on his time as Edward Cullen, and during a recent interview, he said that people can easily get annoyed when something like Twilight becomes a massive phenomenon and is suddenly everywhere.

But now, the Twilight franchise, soundtrack, and fashion have become “retro,” and Pattinson says it is a “hip thing” for younger people in their late teens and early twenties to be into, which is “kind of cool.”
