We don’t know what “all series must end” is in High Valarian, but we wish we did. After years of success, Game of Thrones finally finished filming forever on Friday July 6 according to GoT fansite Watchers on the Wall. This was later confirmed by none other than Maisie Williams who said goodbye to her character Arya Stark and the phenomenal show by posting a picture of some very bloody, ominous shoes with a caption that may or may not contain spoilers:
“Goodbye Belfast. Goodbye Arya. Goodbye Game of Thrones,” Maisie wrote, breaking all of our hearts in the process. “What a joy I’ve had. Here’s to the adventures to come.” Of course, those hashtags can’t be ignored: what exactly does last woman standing mean, huh? Maisie has been known to tease Game of Thrones spoilers in the past and we need answers!
The actress that plays Arya’s sister Sansa Stark also shared a certain something that made everyone think that, as well as filming, any guessing about the ending of the show had been put to rest. Sophie Turner revealed a tattoo featuring a dire wolf accompanied by the words “the pack survives”, instantly leading fans to think that the remaining Starks will all make it to the end of the show. Of course, if what Maisie revealed is true, this may not be the case at all. Fortunately, Sophie told Digital Spy that this was not the case, stating: “that would be terrible if I got the ending tattooed on my body, just before the last season came out. That would be so stupid.”
It isn’t just the Starks that are saying goodbye to the world of Game of Thrones though, as actress Emilia Clarke also posted an Instagram photo lamenting the impending end last month. She captioned the picture: “Hopped on a boat to an island to say goodbye to the land that has been my home away from home for almost a decade. It’s been a trip Game of Thrones thank you for the life I never dreamed I’d be able to live and the family I’ll never stop missing.” We’re not crying, you’re crying.
Thankfully, the final season won’t air on HBO until 2019, which means there is plenty of time left before Game of Thrones officially comes to an end forever. Really, if you think about it that way, the upcoming winter of waiting won’t seem that bad. Of course, there are plenty of other Game of Thrones related things we can still do, whether it’s going to conventions or reading the books, which probably won’t finish ever. There are even games such as the Telltales series or you can get playing at Roxy casino on your smartphone to access the Game of Thrones slot while you’re out and about living your life because, let’s face it, we won’t be doing much of that once the final season airs.
The best news, though, which may be even better than dressing up as Danny or the ability to play Game of Thrones in an online casino and see the houses of Westeros tumble down the reels, is that there is a prequel in the making. That’s right, the prequel has been given the greenlight and will even begin filming in Belfast later this year according to The Independent. The series is currently being referred to as The Long Night, and, if all goes well, it will deliver the thrills, kills and excellence we all came to know and love from its predecessor.
Can you believe Game of Thrones has finished filming? Does this make the wait for the final season feel longer or are you willing to wait forever so you never have to experience the end? Let us know whether you’ll be passing the time playing the online slot or just twiddling your thumbs in the comments below.
