Saara first gained international recognition when she appeared on the thirteenth season of X Factor UK, where she finished in second place. Due to her success on the X Factor, Saara became the most googled person in Finland in 2016. The Finnish newspaper Iltalehti’s readers voted Saara as Finnish person of the year 2016. Saara is currently a judge on season two of X Factor Suomi.
In November 2017, Saara was chosen to represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. In February 2018, the Finnish broadcaster held a national final to select a song for her and the Finnish public chose ‘Monsters’.
Although this is the first time Saara is representing Finland at Eurovision, she has previously taken part in the selection process on two separate occasions. She participated in 2011 and 2016 placing second both times.
Saara has released six studio albums and seven singles.
